Happily drifting through the waves at Egypt Beach,

the sea warm, the sun easy – then,

in a breath, the sky unraveled.

Clouds gathered their fury,

lightning stitched the horizon,

and thunder rolled like ancient drums.

Rain crashed down in silver sheets –

wild, sudden, and beautiful.
